Tim Voss > Prairie Smoke Flower; Minneapolis, Minnesota Prairie smoke is one of my favorite spring prairie flowers. The name describes its ethereal nature. I rather like this black and white conversion. It brings up more of the detail, I think.
Tim Voss > Saint Anthony Falls in High Water; Minneapolis, Minnesota This is the highest spring flow we've seen on the Mississippi for some while. It's not close to flood stage here, but it's still pretty impressive. Note that the lock on the left has been turned into a spillway to divert flow away from the falls.
Tim Voss > Christmas Bell with Shadows I have a small collection of bells that date back to my childhood. This is one of my favorites. It has a wonderful tone. I used my headlamp to light this shot. The backdrop was white poster paper.
Tim Voss > River Street at Night; Decorah, Iowa It's tough to find anything brooding or ominous in a town as benign as Decorah. But I did my best.
Tim Voss > Mickey's Diner at Night; Saint Paul, Minnesota Ah, Mickey's... It's been St. Paul's favorite greasy spoon for many years. The dining car was built in 1937 by the Jerry O' Mahony Company in New Jersey. The car was shipped to St. Paul and opened for business on this same spot in 1939. It has been resisting the march of time and urban renewal efforts ever since. By the bye, it's not a real railroad car.
