Tim Voss > Rainy Night, BNSF Railroad Bridge 2; Minneapolis, Minnesota There's a bit of history behind this bridge. The first span at this location was built in 1867 by the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. (The StP&P ultimately became the Great Northern Railroad.) The Great Northern replaced that bridge in 1893, then improved it 1926. The GN modified the bridge with this truss in 1963. I have several other views of this bridge with trains. This image is looking south from Nicollet Island toward downtown.

Tim Voss > January Twilight: Saint Paul and Ramsey County Courthouse; Saint Paul, Minnesota The Ramsey County Courthouse was completed in 1932. The original tower is a perfect example of American Art Deco. This is a splendid building inside and out. I hope to get some interior photos at some point. The steam plume comes from the District Heating Plant. And yes, it takes a cold evening to get a good steam plume.
