Tim Voss > Martin Olav Sabo Bridge 5; Minneapolis, Minnesota The Sabo Bridge carries the Minneapolis Greenway Trail over busy Hiawatha Avenue. It's a 2,200 foot long cable-stayed suspension bridge. The bridge was dedicated in 2007. I never really liked it until I finally was up on the deck. Now I understand. This is a cool design.

They are massive, powerful, and slightly less pretty than a cement block. But when they loom out of frost smoke, they're very impressive and even mysterious. The locks at Sault Saint Marie, Michigan and Ontario closed for the season on Thursday, January 15. The Edgar B. Speer and Edwin H. Gott were the last Lakers to arrive in Duluth for winter lay-up on Friday, January 16, 2009. They had quite a fight with ice and arrived better than two days late. The Edgar B. Tim Voss > Cathedral of Saint Paul; Saint Paul, Minnesota The Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of Saint Paul's greatest landmarks. It looks out over downtown with a monumental presence. The church was the child of Archbishop John Ireland and architect Emmanuel Manqueray. Construction took eight years and the building was dedicated in 1915. Interior work continued through the 1930's. A very expensive exterior restoration ran 2001 to 2003. It included tuckpointing the granite facades and sheathing the central dome in 100,000 square feet of copper.
